It has 4wd access from the Yellow Creek Road to a nice camp site that is just a short walk from the upstream claim boundary.The bedrock is meta-volcanic andesite of the Shoe Fly Fm and the Feather River ultramafic belt or serpentine. Mineralized up-drainage rocks include Shoe Fly marine and volcanic sediments plus those of the Triassic period. The Melones fault or the contact with the Feather River ultramafic belt crops out on the claim. The fault is associated with high-grade gold mineralization elsewhere in the northern Sierra.Yellow Creek runs all year and as the pictures show, is clear and clean. It gently meanders through a straight shoot of the claim littered with boulders and a few downed trees and logs. Broken and fractured bedrock is exposed in a number of locations, creating abundant opportunities for metal detecting and dredging. Several locations show the high-bank deposits consist of a thin veneer of recent flood deposits that are underlain by older unworked! river deposits. Older remnant terrace deposits exist higher up on the slope and are equally unexplored. A couple minor drainages exist on the down-valley portion of the claim, two from the east and one from the west. The western drainage drains a Tertiary river deposit that has been unexplored. It is claimed to the 4,500 ft elevation and contains optimistic prospecting targets.The maximum dredge nozzle size for Yellow Creek is 6", but 3" and 4" dredges may prove better tools. With all the cracks and fractures in the bedrock, prospectors with metal detectors should find abundant rewards not only along the stream but along the slopes and within the cliffs. Don't be fooled by other claims for sale and all thier gizmos. This is the real deal. If you want to find gold this season and many seasons to follow, then this is the claim for you.
